GoRoam is all about mapping your routes and sharing them with the world. Use the tools described below to draw your route, then tell your friends all about it. GoRoam also works as an online distance calculator, so you can map a route and see how long it is. For now, there is currently no "undo" functionality.

Double-clicking anywhere on the map will re-center the map on that location and zoom in one level. |
Each route gets its own unique URL, so you can share your routes with your friends simply by sending them a link to the page. The Share menu item helps you by automating the process: from here you can email the link, add it to your blog, bookmark it, and more. Just remember that when you share something you are sharing the web page that you are currently on.

Use this button to open and close the toolbar. You can close the toolbar to get it out of your way, but any selected tool will remain functional. To turn off a selected tool, simply click that tool's button again and the tool will turn off. |
Use this tool to quickly jump to a location on the map. You can search for anything (street address, city, state, etc.) and if the location is a recognized place on the map, you will jump to that location. If your location is not found, check your spelling or try searching for something less specific. When your location is found, the map automatically zooms in to the appropriate level, but you can remain at your current zoom level by checking the box next to "no zoom on find". |
Use this tool to add points to your route. Start by clicking anywhere on the map as the starting point of your route. Continue clicking on the points along your route and they are added to the end of the line. If you would like to insert a point into your route somewhere other than the end, there's no need to delete everything and start over - simply click on the part of the route where you would like to insert the next point. The next time you click on the map to add a point, it will be inserted between the two ends of the highlighted segment. To go back to adding points to the end of the line, click the highlighted segment again to deselect it. To move a point, click on the point you wish to move, then click the location on the map where you would like to move it to. |
Use this tool to remove parts of your route. Click on any part of your current route to delete it. If you click on a point, it will delete only that one point; if you click on a segment between two points it will delete the entire segment, including the point at both ends. Clicking on the map will do nothing. |
Use this tool to clear your current route and start over. This has the same effect as deleting all points manually with the Remove Point tool. |
Use this tool to quickly zoom to a certain location on the map. Click and drag a box around the part of the map that you would like to zoom in on. There is currently no "back" button to go back to your previous zoom level. |
Use this button to show the distance of your current route. The distance appears in a small box in the upper-right-hand corner of the map. You can close the distance box by clicking on the "x" in the corner; click on this toolbar button to show it again. Keep in mind that the distance indicator box may be off of your current screen if you're scrolled all the way to the bottom of the map. |
